Samuel Jamiru Braima >

Samuel Jamiru Braima is a professional economist. His area of specialism includes but not limited to poverty issues (risk and vulnerability) econometric modeling and statistical analysis and youth development. He is currently a lecturer in the Department of Economics and Commerce at Fourah Bay College, the University of Sierra Leone. His consulting experience includes a review of Sierra Leone’s Poverty Reduction Strategy paper and a study on balance of payments compilation and analysis for the West African Institute for Financial and Economic Management (WAIFEM).

Samuel Jamiru Braima brings with him a sound academic background. He graduated from Department of Economics and Social Studies in 1987 with an honours degree in Economics.  In 1998, he got his masters degree and is currently a doctoral candidate. He has enriched his academic profile by attending advanced training Programmes in Economics viz: Collaborative Masters Programme – The joint facility for Electives, organized by the African Economic Research Consortium, Nairobi, Kenya; Recent Development in Economics, organized by African Economic Research Consortium, Nairobi, Kenya.

Before coming to his position at Transtech International Limited, as economics consultant, Samuel Jamiru Braima had risen to the position of Lecturer 1 in the Department of Economics, Fourah Bay College at the University of Sierra Leone. Samuel has a strong social inclination to Youth development and has produced technical papers in this area. As consultant for the National Youth Development Programme, he was responsible for the preparation of the matrix of youth’s skills in the Southern and Eastern Provinces.

In December 2003 to May 2004, Samuel participated in the production of part of the Sierra Leone Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper in which he reviewed Labour and Employment Sector; Microfinance and informed Sector Development in Sierra Leone.

Samuel Jamiru Braima is resident in Sierra Leone and married with two children.
