Ms. Fatim Badjie Janneh >

Ms. Fatim Badjie Janneh is a native Gambia who from the 12th of March 2008 to February 2009 was Minister (Secretary of State) of Communication, Information and Information Technology of the Republic of the Republic of the Gambia.

Her portfolio and responsibility included Public Administration, Management, Projects and Policy Development and Implementation. She successfully formulated the National Information & Communication Policy Plan, e-education/human resource / government/health and ICT Bill.

Before coming to Government Ms. Janneh provided supervision and general oversight at Landing Point, Smart Village Project (ICT Park). Her other duties included issuing of National Communications License, International Relations she supervised over general Telecommunications, Radio Services, Frequencies, National Domain, Printing and Internet Service Providers.

Earlier Ms. Janneh worked with Infrastructure Development Comium Gambia Ltd. She was the Senior Communication Officer of the company with corporate responsibility for corporate Branding, Media Management, Coordination of Social development schemes of Comium Gambia Ltd. She also had the responsibility for research on Policy and procedure development of the employee handbook, whilst creating and carrying customer service orientation.

From 10/20/06 – 02/07/07, she was in the service of Verizon Wireless, Wheaton, MD; where she brought cutting edge sales techniques that lifted the profile of the company, improving sales, had supervisory role over three sales representatives and coordinated employee communication and training on new services.

Before coming to Verizon Wireless, Ms. Janneh served in the Personnel Department (Human Resources) of Quality Industries Inc. La Vergne TN; besides the basic human resource activities she engaged in, Ms. Janneh prepared new here data files and orientation for new employees and researched the policy and procedure for employee handbook.

Ms. Janneh had earlier cut her teeth in human resource management at Orbis Corporation, Nashville, TN, as Communication Officer/Human Resources on a part-time basis, assisted with the recruitment of qualified personnel in various positions for in-staff clients as Recruiter for In-staff Personnel Nashville, TN.

The forte of Ms. Janneh is in Communications where she holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the Tennessee State University. Nashville TN. She was honoured on the Dean’s list of the University and has always used communications as vehicle to bring development to her environment. Worked on a lot of Projects in College and in the Gambia where she was a peer Counselor for young underprivileged girls in the Forum for African Women Educationalists in Gambia (FAWEGAM) from 1999 – 2001. Ms. Janneh is a skilled writer and has own 1st place for prose in the Gambia with her short story “Mistakes of Society”. She has worked as International News Reporter on Tennessee State University Campus Radio compiling internal news and reports. She is an astute public speaker.
